The Lighthouse Project is moving! We will now be occupying the entire 15th floor of the Investment Building in Downtown Pittsburgh! This move brings new social skills classes for every child and family
Our program is designed to help kids facing various challenges socially, emotionally, or behaviorally with or without a diagnosis. Our goal is to offer programs that help kids thrive in traditional school and home settings and reduce interaction with welfare systems such as foster care, juvenile justice and other systems as they get older. We bridge the gap and help families receive access to immediate services while putting together a long term plan.
All enrollment in programs are based off of availability. We will add and change social classes to meet the needs of our children and families.
The Lighthouse Project offers multiple services and classes. This program provides a holistic and therapeutic approach to help prepare these children with the skills they need to transition into and thrive a traditional settings.
Our day program offers a holistic approach to addressing the unique needs of each child. Our services include space for physical, occupational, and speech therapy onsite as well as an in house clinical social worker to provide support. We also can provide IEP services to ensure all of our students are getting the care they need and are also prepared to transition to another program when the time comes. We will also work with each family individually to assess and set up services such as tuition assistance, CHIP, referrals and other services as needed. Our program focuses on making sure every child and family is being met where they are and receiving the care they need. Each child and family will be assessed by the program director and supervisor to assess the child's needs. Each family will need to fill out a basic information form, which can be requested by submitting a request below. If the family is involved in foster care, or working with a case worker, additional information will be required upon request. This program accepts kids within the pre-k and kindergarten ages of 3-6 years old. While in our program, it is our goal to help guide care givers through the complex challenges they face in an educational and home setting. Our new hours of operation are from 9am-5pm M-F.
Our respite care program works with kids of all ages who are involved in foster care. Our program provides 24/7 care for kids of all ages who need emergency short term placement. All children will have access to trauma informed support care to help prepare them for their transition into care.
ALL REFERRALS FOR THIS PROGRAM MUST COME THROUGH A CASEWORKER. CALL 412-874-6015 FOR IMMEDIATE NEED FOR CARE.

"412 Foster Project fills a huge current gap. I adopted my daughter through foster care and she has a lot of big emotions and can be very aggressive at school due to being picked up by caseworkers she didn’t know multiple times per week and taken to visits she didn’t want to be attending. I didn’t have to worry about picking her up early and I didn’t have to worry about her screaming and crying when I dropped her off like she would do at her previous day programs. The best part of the program is that they always work with the kids with the goal of them returning to a traditional school where they can be included with other students when it makes sense and we got to experience this firsthand. I will forever be grateful to Jenna and Ginny for the love and support they have given us and continue to give us for Alayna to be successful."
